Arcsoft — Photostudio Old Version New [2021]

Step 1: Extract the files, don't run from CD
Copy the entire Setup folder from the CD to your desktop (e.g., C:\ArcSoft_Setup). Older autorun modules fail on new Windows. ArcSoft PhotoStudio evolved from a basic bundled imaging
PhotoStudio 6 (Latest Major Version): This is the most recent and powerful iteration, featuring advanced tools such as Face Beautify, multi-layer support, and a non-destructive editing workflow. It supports large RAW files and over 40 special effects. Download and install Visual Basic 6
- Download and install Visual Basic 6.0 SP6 Runtime from Microsoft (search:
vb6rt.exe). - Or copy
MSVBVM50.DLLandMFC42.DLLinto the PhotoStudio installation folder.
What you lose (The honest truth):
- No Raw support: Forget your Sony ARW or Canon CR3 files. You need to convert to TIFF/JPEG first.
- No 64-bit: Can't edit images larger than 2GB (which is fine for hobbyists).
- No PSD layers compatibility: While it reads basic PSDs, smart objects and adjustment layers will flatten.
- No High-DPI scaling: On a 4K monitor, the tool icons will be tiny. You have to set Windows scaling to 100% or 125% specifically for this program.
- Video editing (ShowBiz, TotalMedia Theatre)
- Mobile apps (Selfie+ Camera, PhotoStudio for iPhone)
- OEM bundling (pre-installing trimmed versions on laptops)
That is why the "old version" feels "new." It offers the one feature modern software has forgotten: speed.
