Risks and troubleshooting

  • Using an incompatible Boot Camp package may leave devices without drivers; always match the Boot Camp download to your Mac model and the macOS/Boot Camp Assistant version that created the Windows install media.
  • If drivers fail to install, try running setup.exe as Administrator and install drivers in Device Manager by pointing to the Boot Camp/Drivers folder.
  • For persistent issues, uninstall problematic drivers, download the correct Boot Camp package from Apple, or update Windows drivers manually from component vendors (e.g., Broadcom, Intel, Realtek).
  • Back up macOS data before repartitioning or installing Windows.
  • MacRumors Forums / Low End Mac: Communities dedicated to vintage Macs often maintain mirrors of these drivers.
  • Technet / MSDN Archives: If you have access to legacy Microsoft developer archives.
