Roman Empires (Western & Eastern): Rely on heavy infantry like Auxilia Palatina and Plumbatarii (who use lead-weighted darts). They also utilize Equites Clibinarii for heavy cavalry support. rome total war barbarian invasion units
That night, the Visigoths found another way in. Rome fell. But the Last Cohort did not. They fought their way out through a sewer and disappeared into the hills, still carrying their eagle standard, still marching in step. The year is 410 AD
Frankish Francisca Throwers: Unique to the Franks, these axemen throw heavy axes before charging, dealing significant morale and physical damage. Huscarls/Warband: strong melee infantry for shock actions
There are two distinct "tech trees" in BI: the Romano-British/Eastern Roman style (professional, armored) and the Barbarian style (numerous, hard-hitting, lightly armored).
Plumbatarii: Elite heavy infantry equipped with lead-weighted darts (plumbata) that offer better range than the traditional pilum.
Shieldwall: Used by elite spear and sword units, this tight formation provides a massive defense bonus, making units nearly impenetrable from the front as long as they stay organized.
