Accessing the Sonic 3 Complete Customizer
Unlike hidden debug modes of the past, the Customizer is refreshingly intuitive. Upon booting Sonic 3 Complete, you are not thrown directly into Angel Island Zone. Instead, you are greeted by a sleek, blue main menu with three options: Sonic 3 Complete is a comprehensive ROM hack
The customizer typically functions as a front-end for a patcher. Works with all S3C versions from 2007 onward
- Save Type: This is a game changer. You can switch from the original battery backup (which only saved after a Sonic 3 zone or a & Knuckles zone) to Level Select Save. This saves your exact position, rings, and lives after every single act. Died in Flying Battery? Reload right there.
- Special Stage Ring Requirement: Hate hunting for 50 rings? Set this to 0. Now touching any checkpoint post will launch you into a Blue Spheres stage.
- Super Emeralds: Toggle them on/off. If you just want the classic Super Sonic (not Hyper), you can disable the S&K expansion content.
- Competition Mode: Unlock all characters (Knuckles in Mushroom Hill, etc.) without needing cheat codes.
