Understanding the Toyota Katashiki Code: A Comprehensive Guide
Why you need the full code:
Two JZA80s can be vastly different. One is a naturally aspirated automatic (E-JZA80-ALPQZ). One is a twin-turbo 6-speed manual (E-JZA80-ALFQZ). The frame number alone does not tell you which is which. The Katashiki does.
Step 1: Find the plate. It reads: E-JZS133W-MDEZF
Step 2: Go to a part catalog (like Partsouq or Amayama).
Step 3: Enter the code into the "Model" search bar, not the VIN search bar.
Step 4: The system returns: JZS133W, 1JZ-GE Engine, Wagon, Automatic, Right-Hand Drive.
Step 5: Browse the diagrams. The water pump for a 1JZ-GE is different from the 2JZ-GE. Without the Katashiki, you might buy the wrong pump. toyota katashiki code

Engine & Platform: The first few letters usually represent the engine family and the vehicle platform. For example, in the code ST202R-BLMGFW, the "ST202" identifies the engine type and chassis series.
