  • WUD / WUX: These are raw disc images. A .wud file is a 1:1 copy of the game disc. Because Wii U discs can hold up to 25GB, these files are massive. .wux is a compressed version of the .wud format, functioning similarly to a zip file to reduce file size without losing data integrity.
  • WUA (Wii U Archive): This is a newer, more efficient format developed by the community. It is essentially a compressed archive that contains the game files (application, content, and metadata) in a streamlined structure. It is currently preferred for its smaller file size and faster loading times in emulators.
  • Loadiine Ready: This refers to a folder structure (containing content, code, and meta folders) originally used by a specific homebrew exploit called Loadiine. While older, this folder structure is still easily loaded by modern emulators.
  1. A Modded Wii U: You need to install custom firmware (CFW) like Tiramisu or Aroma on your console via an SD card.
  2. Disk2App (D2D): This homebrew application reads your physical disc and copies it to a USB drive or SD card.
  3. WUD (Wii U Disc) Extraction: Once dumped to the hard drive, you use a PC tool (like wud2app) to convert the raw dump into a loadable ROM structure (RPX/RPL files).
